Would adding a blog to your website help drive traffic to your site?
I am sorry, when I say, "driving traffic" to your website, I don't mean highway traffic, I mean increasing readers. I found that writing helpful tips and Do-it-Yourself articles for websites has improved readership.
+ Today's marketing requires repeat customers, therefore there is a need to have readers return to your website often in search of helpful information. This can lead to increased sales.
+ Social Networking depends on spreading the news, and using Twitter or Email to post links back to your website would be a good thing.
So why are so many websites devoid of blogs? I don't know...but I think they are rooted in the days of print media that was not interactive. In the pre-social media days, the website was an expanded version of a printed brochure. It did not engage user action other than to CALL NOW. There were no wiki or blogs attached to the website, unless it was a large corporation like Amazon, which provided product reviews from both the manufacturer and its readers.
Today, it is possible to create a website, using WordPress, that contains both static pages, blog posts, and reader's comments.
Here is an example of a blog I developed and added to a client's website. It's a home and office organization service.
BEFORE:
http://www.ibcorganize-office-home.com/ (This is the front page).
AFTER:
http://www.ibcorganize-office-home.com/category/blog/ (This is from the inner pages. )
Note: the BEFORE page displayed one idea. The AFTER: displayed many ideas because its a blog.
When a reader uses a Search Engine like Google, Bing, or Yahoo, they have a greater chance of landing on the client's website from any page.
A website is not a book, with a beginning, middle and end. Each page must contain enough information to engage the reader or they will "bounce" off the website, never to return.
It's a thought to remember to increase readership by adding a blog.
If you need help adding content to your website, I available for hire.
