Unemployment Extension: Senate Democrats Introduce Yearlong Reauthorization Of Extended Jobless Aid

Democrats will face opposition from Republicans who want the cost of the bill offset by spending cuts, which Democrats oppose. Republicans want to extend the Bush Tax cuts that are expected to expire at the end of this year, which Democrats oppose. Perhaps the two parties will reach a compromise.

Meanwhile, "Without a reauthorization, the Labor Department estimates that 2 million American will lose their benefits over the course of December, with 800,000 facing a cutoff this week alone", reports the Huffingtonpost article.
